Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame Announces 2nd Annual Golf Classic

The Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame will hold its 2nd Annual Hall of Fame Golf Classic on Monday May 14th at Blue Bell Country Club in Blue Bell, Pa.  A number of the Hall of Fame inductees, retired Philadelphia athletes and sports personalities will join supporters of the Hall for a day of golf and fun to benefit Hall of Fame Charities.  The Hall of Fame Golf Classic is open to the public and available golf foursomes are filling up fast.

“The Hall of Fame Golf Classic was a tremendous success in its first year (in 2006), and is now considered a major event that will assist the Hall with its charitable giving and future initiatives. It’s a great opportunity for all Philadelphia sports fans to come out and meet our inductees and guests on the golf course or during the reception and dinner and support a great cause,” said Dan Fahy, Jr. Golf Committee chairman.  “You do not have to be a golfer to enjoy this day. Our sales for this year’s event have been steady, and we are anticipating a sell-out for the event.”

Scheduled to appear at this year’s Hall of Fame Golf Classic are: Tommy McDonald, Bill Campbell, John Chaney, Bill Ellerbe, Harvey Pollack, Tom Gola, Tom Brookshier, Fran Dunphy, Scott Palmer, Marc Zumoff, Merrill Reese, Dan Baker, Vince Papale, Gerald Henderson, Stan Hochman, Maxie Baughan, Pete Retzlaff and various other members of the 1960 World Champion Philadelphia Eagles. Also making a special appearance, everybody’s favorite…the PHILLIE PHANATIC!

Live and silent auctions of exclusive items will take place as a part of this year’s event fundraising efforts. Auction items include basketballs autographed by Billy Cunningham and Mo Cheeks, a round of golf at three of Philadelphia’s premiere area private golf clubs, a seat on the bench with Phil Martelli and the Saint Joseph’s Hawks basketball team at a game at the Palestra, tickets to area sporting events, a tour of Citizens Bank Park with Dan Baker, a $5,000 gift certificate for an original portrait, other autographed sports memorabilia, and much more. The silent auction will run throughout the day and close during the dinner event.
The celebrity-attended golf event will feature a four-person team scramble format, a special Hall of Fame gift for all participants, putting contest and various prizes throughout the event. Additional activities for the day include a pre-golf buffet breakfast, post-golf cocktail hour, buffet dinner, door prizes and the auction event.
This event is open to the public. Entry fee for individual golfers is $275 and foursomes can be purchased at $1,100 each.  This golf event is limited to 124 players. There will be non-golf, cocktail/dinner-only tickets available to the public. Tickets for this part of the event are $75 each.

Sponsorship opportunities at the Hall of Fame Golf Classic are also available, and serve as a great way to advertise your organization’s support throughout the day.
Proceeds of this year’s event will benefit Hall of Fame Charities, the Foundation’s charity division, which supports community-focused initiatives, including youth sports camps, PAL sponsorships, collegiate internships and other student programs.
Tickets for the golf event and/or dinner are available to the public and may be purchased online at http://www.phillyhall.com.
