Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame Announces 1st Annual Golf Classic

Philadelphia, PA -- The Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame is holding its 1st Annual Hall of Fame Golf Classic Monday July 10th at Blue Bell Country Club in Blue Bell, Pa. A number of Hall of Fame inductees will join supporters of the Hall for a day of golf and fun to benefit Hall of Fame Charities. The Hall of Fame Golf Classic is open to the public.

Master of Ceremonies Harry Kalas joins fellow Philly Hall of Famers Chuck Bednarik, Tom Brookshier, Pete Retzlaff, Maxie Baughn, Bill Ellerbee, Dick Lucas, Ray Didinger, Bob Levy, Bill Campbell, Joe Frazier and Harvey Pollack. The list continues to grow as additional Hall of Famers and local sports celebrities will join the fun.

“The Hall of Fame Golf Classic is the next major event for the Hall and a great opportunity for fans to join the Inductees on the golf course or at reception,” said Dan Fahy, Jr. Golf Committee chairman. “With almost 600 people at our sold-out Induction banquet earlier this month, we anticipate a fast sell-out for this limited space event.”

A live auction of exclusive items is part of the event’s fundraising. Notable items include a dinner cruise with Hall of Fame Inductee Bernie Parent and other members of the Broad Street Bullies on Parent’s boat; a custom-framed Augusta National 2005 Masters golf flag autographed by Jack Nicklaus, commemorating the Golden Bear’s last official Masters Tournament; and a round for 4 at a premiere Philadelphia area private golf club. A silent auction will run throughout the day.

The celebrity-attended outing features a four-person scramble format, a putting contest, a “beat the pro” competition and various prizes throughout the event. It affords the public an opportunity to play one of the premier golf clubs in the area, Blue Bell Country Club, an Arnold Palmer Signature Course. Activities for the day include a pre-golf buffet lunch, post-golf cocktail hour, buffet dinner and door prizes along with the silent and live auctions.

Entry fee for golfers is $275 and foursomes are $1100. This outing is limited to 124 players. Non-golf, banquet-only tickets are available to the public for $100.

Limited sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Proceeds benefit Hall of Fame Charities, the Foundation’s community-focused initiatives such as youth sports camps, PAL sponsorships, internships and student programs.

Tickets for the golf outing and dinner are available to the public and may be purchased online at http://www.phillyhall.com.
