Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame Foundation Looking For A New Home

PHILADELPHIA- September 1, 2012 -The Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame is searching for a new home, as its current location is being sold by the current owner.  The hall’s current location has afforded it the opportunity to preserve its archives, create displays that recognize the area’s great sporting history and operating space to manage the organization.

"We have had a great experience here in Northern Liberties and our disappointed that we need to move our museum-staging facility.  However, we view this as an exciting opportunity, to make a bold step forward while partnering with a like-minded, forward-thinking local organization", said Ken Avallon, president of the PSHOF.

Details regarding the needs of the PSHOF can be found at

Founded in 2002 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame’s motto is To preserve and promote the sports history of Philadelphia. The Hall is dedicated to honoring individuals, teams, events, organizations and venues prominent in the history of athletics in Philadelphia and the surrounding area.

The ultimate goal of the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame is a permanent sports museum and entertainment venue in the Philadelphia area. Given the constituencies involved and the millions of dollars needed, particularly in the current economic climate, this interactive, state-of-the art destination and attraction is definitely a long-range endeavor.

As an interim step in this far-reaching vision, the Hall of Fame’s current home is its museum-staging facility in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia. This allows the Hall to continue developing our inventory of themed exhibits and scaled-down vignettes as groundwork for a future, full-service museum.

The Hall’s current home also serves as a base of operations for administering our sports-related student programs and internships.
